Mark Dacascos definetely has the genetics for martial arts.
The son of Malia Bernal, whom some consider the ultimate female martial artist of all time, and Al Dacascos, founder of the won hop kuen do system, he has literally been trained from birth.
Perhaps because of his predatemined path in life, Mark lacked the distorted agenda of many practitoners seeking to carve out a film career. True, he had the looks. True, he had the talent. But since martial arts were his birthright, he simply didn't have the self-serving attitude of so many today who see their training simply as a bridge to a film career.

"American Samurai"の頃の発行のため、写真はKenjiroメインです。
そう、Kenjiroが　"I'm a YAKUZA now!"　とSanga父にヤクザの証（笑）の入れ墨を見せる場面ですね。＾＾
あと、ところどころにちりばめられた、"Enhancing Your Skills"でお馴染み、モノクロの力道山スタイルがなんとも泣かせてくれます〜。

＜本文＞

本文も全部は読んでいませんが、なんと重大な？発見が。

マーク自身が彼の出演作について言及しているのですが、オフィシャルサイトにも載っていない"General Hospital"というテレビドラマにも出演したようです。
IMDbを見ると、1972-79年に放映されたシリーズがありますが、恐らくスペシャルか何かで1991年にも再演されていると思われるので、それかと。

また、先日"Filipinas Magazine"でのインタビューを御紹介しましたが、それでは
「自分の出自の分からない外見が俳優としてとても役だっている」と答えていたマークですが、この頃のマークは混血であることがどちらかというと障害だと思っていたようです。（以下引用）

IK: So things came easily for you?
MD: Yes and no. I've had my share of good luck, to be sure. But I had obstacles. The major problem I've always had is being of mixed blood. I've get called in to a role calling for a caucasian and get told I'm too ethnic looking, then I'd get called in for an Asian part and get told I'm not Asian enough.

また、この頃は地道にオーディションで役を得ていたマーク。
"American Samurai"のオーディションに行った時に、脚本家の１人（George Goldsmith）が、「あなたがたは彼が誰か知らないんですか？　彼はマーク・ダカスコスですよ!」と言ったのに対し、プロデューサー達は「誰それ？」という反応だったことなども書かれていました。
この頃は既にマーシャルアーツ界では有名人だったのですが、映画界では知る人も少なかったというエピソードですね。

その他、Steven SeagalやVan Damme等マーシャルアーツ俳優についての質問もありました。そしてラストはBruce Lee。
なかなか興味深い分析でした。
